IALT: Define the word Region

Salve and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

I am back with another word( like what I said before in my other Todays Word is...) and will be doing the same thing giving my own opinoin of what the word means and the real defintion of the word. Today we got a few words for this week.
Which are:
- Location
- City
- Country
- Popuation
-Native
- Town

But for now I would be defining the word Region. There are 2 defintion of reigon. Which is something to do with countries and the other focusing on the body. But today I would be definng the reigon about countries since we are studing about NZ geography.

My defintion:

Region is a particular area in a country.

The internets defintion:

An area, especially part of a country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries.

IALT: Leave quality blog comments on others blogs

Talofa Lava and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

So yesterday Ms Aireen have bring up this idea of blog commenting on other schools blogs. When I say other schools I dont just ean in our cluster but schools around New Zealand. Now if you check out our class site( TPS Kia Manwanui- Be Big Hearted) you can see that we have joined this blog commenting site or something( I and not sure) called Tuhi mai Tuhi atu. As you can see there are 2 schools underneath it. Awahono School and Marshland School. These are our buddy classes. Each week we would be visiting there class blogs and giving them positive feedback/feedfoward on there work.

Now when we are commenting we must remember that it is helpful, thoughtful and kind. This is our 3 main points of what a quality blog comment is.
Here is my comment to Room 6, Awahono School:

I have left them a feedback/feedfoward on there ANZAC poster blogpost. When I was on there class blog I was going throught them and the ANZAC poster stand out to me! The way they produce there work was so AMAZING! This is on way that I can collabrate and communicate online poistvely. Hopefully one day they could come and check out my blogs!

✏️⏰Graphics- Drafting our clocks⏰✏️
IALT: Reflect about technology

Hallo eveybody and greetings to you ll! Welcome to my blog!

Today I willl be blogging about technology! This week for technology we were required to draft out at least 4 clocks that we will be intrested to make. For the past few weeks we talked about how clocks are different from each other, what makes them simalar, how do they work etc. Learning all about this would help us build our clocks and understand what we will be doing. For my clock I will be creating it for me and my sister. This would help us sleep early for school so that we would be more perpared to school.

My 4 Ideas are:

- Book clock
- Music clock
- Youtube clock
- Cross clock

These 4 ideas relate to me and my sister because we both are intrested in these things. But sadly out of these 4 I can only create one. So I was thinking of doing the cross or either the book because with these 2 ideas, I am most likely createing something different from the rest of them because some have the same ideas( like fortnite), and I do like being different with my ideas.

So I am not sure which one to chose, but hopefully I would make my desscion by next week because we would be modeling them in our next session. I have really enjoyed this day putting my creative thoughts on this and learning new things about clocks!

Kia Orana and greeetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

Last week the Kia Manwanui syndicate have been learning about the Polynesia Explorers. We got into pairs and we had to talk about what we think what are Polynesia explorer? Me and Hevani suggested that it had do with the people from the pasifica( New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa etc) travleing from islands to island. After that we where requierd to create KWL on a DLO( Digital Learning Object). KWL stands for what you know, what you want to learn( like questions about the story/text), and what you have learnt.

IALT: Set a growthmindset at all times

Hola and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

Today I have chosen to blog about a inspirational quote about growth mindset. This term I have notcie that I haven't been setting a growth mindset( which is one of my goals for this year) at all times. Having a fixed mindset really affectd me as a learner. I wasted all my time delting myself and crying about how work is complicated or just giving up easily, when I shouldeve use that time to focus on work and do something more reasonable. But now I have learned to have perserverance in myself and just give everything a go and not ashamed of asking for help.

This quote measn a lot to me. This will inspire me to accpet all the mistakes that I have made and to continue on moving foward to appreciate all the things that I have done.Image result for growth mindset quotes

WALT: create a postive digital footpirnt

Hello fellow humans and the whole universe! Welcome to my blog!

This week for cybersmart I have learnt how important it is to be aware what you are going online. Anything that you post or send would be on the internet FOREVER! It sure is true, unless you have a way to erase it but all I know is that the things you go on and things you share online that are inapporiate can lead you into great risk in the future. Luckily here in Tamaki Primary and other schools around NZ, we have learnt how to be a smarter person online.

Image result for digital footprint

Did you know that every now and there whatever site or things you go on no matter what, you actually leave a digital footprint. But what is a positive digital footprint? Well, I can tell you that I am actually leaving a postive digital footprint right now! Sharing my work online helps me to connect with my readers in a psotive way. This is how I have created a postive digital footprint.

Here are some other ideas of what a digital footprint is:

- Using apporiate language online

 - Giving postive blog comments

- Sharing non-personal information online

- Surfing online- apporiate sites

- Collabrating and communicating online psotively

I have really enjoyed working on this task and I have learned so many more of what a postive digital footpriint is.

IALA: Pavlova

Malo e lelei and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

This week the Kia Manwanui Syndicate have been learning about the NZ Geography. NZ geography is all about the different types of features here in our country. To kick start our learning about this previous topic, we talked about things that are mostly known in NZ like fish n chips, fejiaos, kiwi bird, the pohutakawa tree etc.

Our task was to write 5 facts about a famous desert that is known here in NZ, Pavlova.

Pavlova:

1. The desert pavalova was named after a ballerina called Anna Pavlova, who came from russia.
2. This desert is made out of a meriunge and topped with cream and friuts.
3. Pavlova( a russian ballerina) was so famous around the world that chefs named there dishes after her . For example in America they have a ice cream called Pavlova and a dish in paris which is frogs legs 'a 'la Pavlova.
4. While her tour around NZ, she was at a hotel in wellington. The chef was inspired by her tutu and created a cake called Pavlova.
5. In 1940 the australinas discover about the idea and have invented there own.

I have really enjoyed doing this task and working collabrativley with others. I am looking foward to learn more about the New Zealand geography.

Todays Word is...
WALT: Define the Word GeographyRelated image

Kia Ora and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

Each week we have new vocabs. This week the word is Geography. Now I have heard of geography but I am not sure what it means.

This is the defintion from the internet:
Geography:
the study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by these, including the distribution of populations and resources and political and economic activities.

After reading this I came up with my own defintion:

Geography:

The study of Earth. There are 5 themes of geography which are home, place, reigons, location, and human/enviroment interaction.

If you break the word apart it would make it easier to understand what it means:
The word geo in the terms of geography is Earth.
The word graphy( in geography) means a descriptve science. Basically meaning writing about something.

The word geography would relate to our studies about the NZ history. This would give us more understanding of what geography means and a kick start of what NZ geography is? Or what is kiwiana?

✏️πŸ”ƒ!Maths - Rounding and Compencating!πŸ”ƒ✏️

✏️πŸ”ƒ!Maths - Rounding and Compencating!πŸ”ƒ✏️
WALT: Multiply using tidy numbers, rounding and compencating.

Bonjour and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

Throughout this term for Maths I have learnt how to use rounding and compencating. This stratgey was new to me so I was looking foward to learn more about it. We started of by multiplying one digit number to a 2 digit number. With rouunding you have to remember that when you are rounding up you compencate by subtracting the number and you do the same when you are rounding it down you compencate by adding. That is why it is important that you know your basic facts really well because once you know them it would help you even more in your maths.

Here is an example:

3 x 78= 234
  ( 80 x 3 - 3 x 2)
( 240 - 6)
=  234

So what I have done here is that I have rounded  78 to its nearest 10 which is 80 and to get to 80 I added 2. Then I muliplied 80 by 3 which equals 240. I know this because 8 x 3 = 24 , 24 x 10 = 240. The next step is that you multiplied 3 by 2. The reason why I did this is that whenever you compencating a number by adding and subtract and you are mulitplying, you then multiply that number. After that you subtract the total that you got 240 and 6. Which equals 234. Like what I have said before when you are round up you then have to subtract.

I have enjoyed learning this method and knowing how easy it is to use it. Now I can use this to solve complicative questions/equations than rather using algorythim all the time.

Bula Vinaka and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

This week I have been reading a text called The Desert Kaupoi written by Ariana Tikao. A key idea from this text is Bravery. Bravery was shown in this text by a soilder called Tony Tikau. He was brave enough to leave his team and went on his own and discovered more information about there enemies. Like most soilders, Tony had no idea what he was going to experience. This shows that these soilders had the confidence to go and fought in war on behalf of there Country and there Family. Tony was awarded with the Military Cross for his act of bravery.

Another Key idea from this text is Heroism. Heroism was shown by many soilders. Those who helped there teamates from dieing from disease such as dysentery and other illness were the True Heros. They have sacrificed so much for us to be living here in New Zealnd.

!My Learning Pathway!
WALT: describe and explain our learning pathway for the year.

Fakalofalahi atu and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

2 or 3 weeks ago the Kia Manwanui Syndicate have been talking about this topic(our learning pathway).I know what you might be thinking. What is a Learning Pathway? Well, a Learning Pathway is a pathway that you want to follow to help with your learning. Thats right, it's your desseccion of where you want to end up as a succseful learner. There would be many challenges awaiting for you but I know and YOU know that you can do it!

For this task we had to set ourselves 5 goals. We used A3 paper to outline our hands so that we can put one goal in each finger. Each goals we had to draw sybols and pictures that represented them. I am going to try my best to achieve these goals and hopefully I would achieve all 5 of them at the end of the year!

Here is mines as an example:

And here are my 5 goals:

Tony Tikao was a brave soilder who went in fought in WW2( World War 2). He volunteered to join the Maori Battalion. The Maori Battalion was a group of soilders from NZ transfered overseas to fought in WW2. The war began in 1939 and was located at North Africa. This was going to be Tony's first time experencing war. There where so much fighting going on between the allies and the axis. Machine guns, machine gun post, grenades where used in this attack. One of his teamamtes got shot in the left arm and throwed it to one of the weapons and jammed it. Tony would always rememeber that time. Overall Tony was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery and his outstanding achivements.

IALT: Reflect about my pepeha.

Ciao and greetings to you all! Welcome to my blog!

For the past few weeks we have been inroducing ourseleves to each other. What is a pepeha? Well in my opinion a pepeha is a desriptive about yourselevs. For example your mum or your dad etc. This would help your readers or others know more about you.

The pepeha is actually orignated from the Maori but I have chose to do my one in my own language which is tongan. Writing my pepeha in tongan was quite challenging because some words I wasent sure how to translate it but I got some help from Lydia( Thank you!).

Here is my pepeha:

I have enjoyed doing this task because this was an oppurtunatiy for others to introduce themselevs in a creative way and plus others have also done it in there own language!

Hola and greetings ot you all! Welcome to my bog!

Last week for technology we did Graphics. We had to create a google drawing that describes all about ourselves( sports, subjects, food, Movies/Tv shows etc). We used a site called Avatar to create our own Avatars. At the same time we had to make sure that all of our imgaes or photos are png / Transparent. This would help make our photos look more attractive so it could get peoples attention.
